Huawei gives October shipping date for MediaPad in Malaysia, US and China by year’s end

Been wondering when you were gonna get a chance to smear fingerprints all over 7-inches of Android 3.2, courtesy of Huawei’s MediaPad? Well, if you happen to live in Malaysia, it should be by the middle of October. The rest of you shouldn’t fret though — the company plans to have it on shelves in the US, China, Hong Kong and Thailand before the end of the year. Meanwhile, folks in Singapore can already place pre-orders for $598 SGD, roughly $473 USD. It’s a bit later than the Q3 ship date we were originally told but, as they say, better late than never. Though, we’re more apt to cry “gimme, gimme, gimme.”

Shogun Bros. updates Chameleon X-1 mouse / gamepad, tosses it up for pre-order

Perfection is an undeniably lofty goal, but that’s exactly what Shogun Bros. is striving for, with a freshly announced update to its Chameleon X-1 gaming mouse. Available in three different colors, the company’s “Perfect Version” of its gamepad / mouse boasts an enhanced rubberized coating for better grip, a new layout for remote control operation and, perhaps best of all, extended battery life. Other than that, it’s essentially the same device we saw way back in December, with a 5-stage adjustable 1600dpi optical sensor, a full slate of 16 buttons and force feedback support. Shogun Bros. won’t be releasing this perfected peripheral until October 1st, but you can pre-order one now at Amazon, for $60. LG unveils Optimus Q2 QWERTY slider, slated for Korean launch next week

LG’s fleet of Optimus handsets got slightly larger yesterday, with the announcement of the Optimus Q2 — a follow-up to that LU2300 QWERTY slider we saw last year. Powered by a 1.2GHz Tegra 2 processor, this forthcoming device runs on Android 2.3, boasts a spacious, four-inch, IPS-based LCD with 700 nits of brightness and features a five-megapixel rear camera, along with a VGA front-facing shooter. The Korean manufacturer added that the Q2 will be about a tenth of an inch thinner and 0.35 ounces lighter than its 3.5-inch predecessor, and that it will ship with a wider keyboard. LG is expected to launch the handset in South Korea next week, though pricing and plans for a wider release remain a mystery. Head past the break for the full, translated PR.

Garmin releases aera 795, 796 flight navigators, private jet not included

The GPS gurus over at Garmin have just launched the aera 796 and 795 — a pair of new navigation devices designed specifically for pilots who don’t enjoy getting lost. As the flagship member of the aera family, the 796 sports a seven-inch, 480 x 800 capacitive touchscreen (capable of displaying maps in either landscape or portrait mode) and features Garmin’s 3D Vision technology, providing users with a behind-the-plane view of the terrain below, including rivers, landing strips or any other obstacles. This knee-mounted co-pilot can also serve as an electronic flight bag, allowing captains to digitally store flight routes and airport diagrams directly on their devices. Plus, if it’s hooked up to a compatible GPS system, the 796 can provide real-time traffic updates, while streaming SiriusXM radio straight to the cockpit (the North America-specific 795 features identical specs, minus XM compatibility). Logitech unveils Wireless Headset, Boombox for tablets, smartphones and Radio Raheem

Logitech‘s family of iDevice-friendly accessories got a little larger today, with the addition of the new Wireless Headset and Wireless Boombox. The former (pictured above) allows users to roam up to 33 feet away from their iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch or Bluetooth devices, features a noise-canceling microphone and offers up to six hours of battery life. The boombox, meanwhile, seems to share much of its DNA with that S715i portable audio dock we got our hands on last year. Aside from its similar design (image after the break), Logitech’s Bluetooth-enabled system also features eight custom designed drivers (including, like its cousin, a pair of neodymium 3-inchers), boasts a rechargeable battery with six hours of endurance and can function at up to 33 feet away from any iDevice. Acer Iconia Tab A501 with HSPA+ hits AT&T on September 18th: $330 on contract

As promised, the Acer Iconia Tab A501 is hitting AT&T just before summer draws to an official close. The carrier just announced it’ll start selling the 16GB model next Sunday, September 18th for $480 — or $330 with a two-year contract. When we first heard about this way back in March, we knew it would be a “4G” device, and today AT&T clarified that this means HSPA+, not LTE, so sorry to burst anyone’s bubble. Even so, five months after the A500 went on sale it remains one of a select few slates with a full-sized USB port, so there’s that to consider if you’re still on the fence about getting a tablet. As planned, it’ll ship with Android 3.0, and an Acer rep confirms 3.1 is coming via an over-the-air update, though she couldn’t say when, exactly, that’ll happen. You can sign up for a monthly plan, if you so choose, though you can also pay as you go, with $15 getting you 250MB and $25 expanding your allowance to 2GB. Customers who commit to two-year agreements will have the same choices, to be honest, except they’ll also have to contend with overage fees — $10 per gigabyte or $15 per 250MB, depending on the plan.

Update: We’ve added Acer’s official press release below. Heads up: you’ll notice that Acer lists the price as $499.99 for the 16GB model and $549.99 for the 32GB version. That’s just the manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP). It doesn’t say so in the press release, but AT&T confirmed to us before we published this story that it will actually be selling the 16GB version only, and for $480 (again, that $330 with a two-year contract).

Sony’s F65 CineAlta 4K camera now available for a paltry $65,000

Sony’s F65 CineAlta camera now has a price tag to match its name — and its girth. The imager, which was first unveiled at this year’s NAB Show, has now been officially released ahead of this week’s IBC conference in Amsterdam. The newest member of the CineAlta family captures images in 4K (4096 x 2160) resolution and features a speedy 20.4 megapixel, Super 35mm CMOS sensor, capable of reaching up to 72fps at 4K resolution and 120fps on 2K. The F65 also comes boasts 16-bit RAW output at 19Gbps on 4K and WiFi connectivity that allows you to manipulate it from the comfort of your tablet. The shooter won’t start shipping until January, but filmmakers or production houses with lots of disposable income can order one now, for a mere $65,000. Summer may have drawn to an unofficial close, but that clearly hasn’t stopped the Galaxy S II from wearing all white. Today, the albino version of Samsung’s Gingerbread handset officially made its way to Vodafone, just a few days after launching in the UK and more than a month after leaking in “official looking” images. The blanched, 4.3-inch smartphone is available for free with a two-year, £36 per month price plan (roughly equivalent to $58 per month), though it’s still unclear whether it’ll be making its way stateside anytime soon. Still bummed that Swedes, Kazakhs and Swiss peeps get a shot at Nokia’s N9, but you don’t? Naturally, no word on how much it’ll set you back, but if you’re making the trip anyway, mind slinging one our way?

HTC Jetstream hits AT&T store, gets benchmarked

Thinking about picking up an (inconceivably expensive) HTC Jetstream? After all, it just slipped into AT&T’s online store this weekend. Not that it performed poorly mind you, it raced neck-and-neck with Lenovo’s IdeaPad K1 — we just like think charts and tables are cool.
