Lenovo and RIM’s Constant Connect now available

We know you’ve been literally hanging on the edge of your seat waiting for this day to come, so it’s our honor and privilege to announce that Lenovo and RIM’s Constant Connect solution is now available. For those who managed to sleep right through February, the technology enables select ThinkPads to automatically pull down BlackBerry emails whenever it’s within range, even if the laptop is completely off. There’s no word on what it’ll cost to have this added into your next corporate machine, but you can head past the break for a quick demonstration vid if you think you’re interested.

Update: It’s a $149 option from select business partners and through Lenovo.com.

Nikon’s D5000 DSLR (and its articulating display) shipping April 27th

Oh, goodie goodie! Merely ten days after the D5000 was formally introduced to the world — and just hours after Amazon’s pre-order page went live — we’re now being told that Nikon’s first DSLR with an articulating display will be shipping in three short days. Starting on April 27th, the cam will begin making its way out to those who pulled the trigger early on… at least in kit form. We don’t expect the body-only configuration to leave the docks for at least a week or so later, but you can rest assured we’ll be giving one a go and letting you know if it’s worth the cheddar.

[Thanks, Jonathon]

Samsung does things backwards, gets official with N110 / N120 netbooks

It’s odd, really. Shortly after Samsung’s N110 ($469) and N120 ($459) netbooks went on sale and saw reviews, the creating company has at long last come forward with official press shots, specifications and pricing. Not surprisingly, both machines are confirmed as “on sale now,” with the pair sporting a 1.6GHz Atom N270, 1GB of DDR2 memory, a 10.1-inch WSVGA display, 160GB hard drive, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, three USB 2.0 sockets and a 1.3 megapixel camera. If you’re wondering how the N120 got ten points closer to the top rung, it ups the ante ever-so-slightly with a “2.1-channel” sound system, a six cell Li-ion battery and a 97 percent full-size keyboard.

Microsoft Surface on sale this June… on board a Lazzara yacht

You heard right, folks. There’s absolutely no need to wait until 2011 in order to buy yourself a personal Surface. Instead, you can grab one of Microsoft’s multitouch phenomenons this June, but there’s just one tiny catch: it comes attached at the waist with a multi-million dollar yacht. Down at the Miami Yacht & Brokerage Show this month, Lazzara Yachts showcased its soon-to-be-released LMC 76, which — coincidentally enough — comes loaded with a Surface along with software from Infusion Development. The boat (and by extension, the Surface) should be ready to take on the open seas in just a few months, but there’s no indication yet on exactly how many New York banks you’ll have to rob in order to make it happen. If you need some encouragement on turning to the dark side, a hands-on demo video is just past the break.

Dell’s greenish G2410 LCD monitor goes on sale

Dell’s new 24-inch G Series LCD, which was previewed during CES this year, has finally gone on sale at the outfit’s website. The G2410 flat-panel is said to be one of the firm’s greenest LCDs, as it proudly sports an EPEAT Gold rating and utilizes halogen-free laminates in circuit boards along with chassis plastics that contains 25 percent post-consumers recycled plastics. Other specs include a 1,920 x 1,080 resolution panel, 1,000:1 contrast ratio, 250 nits of brightness, VGA / DVI connectors and a 5 millisecond response time. It’s all yours for $349, though there’s no apparent discount for hugging a tree prior to pulling the trigger.

[Thanks, Rob]

Amazon’s Kindle 2 listed as “in stock” — for now, anyway

We heard that Amazon was already prepping the earliest Kindle 2 orders for shipment, but now we’re seeing a flood of shipment notifications head our way. So far as we can tell, the second iteration of the Kindle e-reader is shipping en masse, and Amazon even lists the thing as “In Stock” on its website. Of course, the original Kindle had that status for about 3.87 (okay, 5.5) hours before slipping into backorder land for far too long, but we’re hoping the supply chain’s a bit more ready for the rush this go ’round.

[Thanks, Dan]

Wii Super Famicom Classic Controller on sale to general public

Remember that limited edition Super Famicom Classic Controller? You know, that one that was once available only to Club Nintendo members over in Japan? By some remarkable feat of magic, wit and unmatched skill, the crew over at Play-Asia has secured stock to sell to the public at large, and wouldn’t you know it, they have no issues shipping to the United States of America. Of course, you could also execute the X2Wii hack in order to make your existing SNES controller play nice with the Wii, but where’s the fun in that? Unfortunately, this piece will run you just over $80 shipped, so you should make sure you’re really as hardcore a gamer as you say you are before plunking down.

[Thanks, Marcus]

Meizu M8 defies the odds and officially goes on sale – again

Word on the street has it that the Meizu’s M8 — that vaporous iPhone killer from the east — is now officially on sale, as of February 18. For real. Wait, you ask — wasn’t it available last week sometime? Well, yes and no. Apparently, the unit we’ve seen making the rounds was a beta version — if you slapped down your $440-ish dollars on that one, you got something with “a fair amount of problems to be ironed out,” according to DAP Review. The site, whose Chinese-to-English translator is apparently functioning better than ours, goes on to point out that while the test units had WiFi enabled, the final production version does not. A strange decision, sure, but this is a tale fraught with strange decisions. And danger. And excitement and glamor. By the way — we just hit up the official Meizu site, and the 16GB version of this device is “out of stock” — probably due to the rapturous reception the unit’s received all over the world.
